Antisapstain products are commonly used as a temporary protection treatment aimed to minimize the growth of stain, mold and/or decay fungi on freshly cut lumber.

The performance of an antisapstain treatment in industrial applications depends on multiple factors such as wood species, moisture content, drying or storage conditions, time between sawing and application, climate, infestation pressure, the length of protection desired, and type and quality of treatment.
