Hall County (County), Georgia is one of the fastest growing counties in the metropolitan Atlanta Region. The County is in the process of developing a raw water supply, reservoir and a water treatment plant (Plant) to meet anticipated growth. The source water for the proposed Plant will be a reservoir that is filled from two surface water sources. The objectives of this paper focus on the development of a new water supply and treatment system for the County that addresses the following issues: flood issues at the raw water pump station site; strict water withdrawal and minimum release requirements from the raw waterintake; wide variation in the raw water quality; concerns associated with runoff quality due to land use; wide variations in the water level in the proposed storage reservoir; current and future drinking water regulations; and, future increase in system demands and required Plant capacity. Includes table.
