The following briefly discusses recent developments usingLow Pressure High Intensity (LPHI) Ultraviolet (UV) lamps in drinking water. A specialemphasis is made on the history of the development to understand the background ofthe technology. Operational as well as evaluation issues are addressed. It can beconcluded that LPHI UV lamps are already well established in the drinking waterapplication and provide some essential benefits in comparison to other lamp types.
