Public relations is a tool that promotes an organization, including its programs, services and people. It is a tool that gives governmental agencies a voice within the communities they serve. Through that voice an organization can educate, inform and involve the public on varying issues and topics. Fostering creativity among the public information office is important to developing creative products. This paper discusses techniques for fostering creativity that include: creative writing sessions; writing workshops; free-hand drawing; and, maintaining an idea file. Techniques for stimulating creativity are listed along with a brief overview of some programs that the City of North Miami Beach, Public Services Department initiated.
