The CFD tool is used to simulate the flow mixing condition. The methodology to set up theCFD model is outlined in this paper. At the design stage, steady flow condition is assumed. Thesimulation is carried out for a number of different inlet/outlet arrangements to calculatethe flow pattern and the corresponding residence time distribution (RTD) curve. Thedynamic flow during the fill and discharge is simulated using the deforming meshtechnique. Water age of the exit water is obtained for both steady and unsteady flowconditions. Two case studies are presented. Case study 1 is a common inlet/outletreservoir. Case study 2 is a separate inlet outlet reservoir with division walls andarches. Includes 7 references, figures.
