This paper describes a kinetic model for nitrification in a drinking waterdistribution system. Using Monod kinetics, a steady state plug-flow kinetics model wasdeveloped to describe the variations of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate-N concentrations in achloraminated distribution system. Active ammonia-oxidizing-bacteria (AOB) and nitrite-oxidizing-bacteria (NOB) biomass in the distributionsystem was determined using predictive equations within the model. The kinetic modelused numerical analysis and was solved by C language to predict ammonia, nitrite, nitratevariation. Includes 41 references, tables, figures.
