This slide presentation outlines information on the impact that the Endangered Species Act is having on water allocation planning in Florida. As Florida continues to grow and suffer throughperiodic drought, it is facing water allocation decisions based uponwater shortage. Because Florida has one of the highest number of listedspecies, public and private actions often invoke Section 7 of theEndangered Species Act. In the last couple of years water allocationdecisions by public agencies have invoked ESA jurisdiction as the fateof rare species is potentially determined by timing and quantity of waterdelivery systems.
