This slide presentation outlines information on Southern Nevada Water Authority's (SNWA) control strategies for disinfection byproducts. SNWA water supply background is presented, along with the Stage 2 D/DBP Rule Summary and rule impacts to the Las Vegas Valley. The SNWA approach for compliance includes: intake extensions further into LakeMead; a predictivemodel for DBP formation; and, distribution system operationalmodifications. An analysis of possible treatment anddisinfection options included: possible treatment options that included granular activated carbon, enhanced coagulation, and ozone/BAF; sub-criteria weighting; overall scoring for DBP controlalternatives; relative benefits - sub-criteria contribution; order-of-magnitude cost estimate summary; and, benefit/cost model summary.
