This paper discusses non-traditional funding sources that may provide additional or supplementary funding for smaller water utilities. The first category of funding sources discussed is loans and includes sources such as: Community Resource Group; Rural Community Assistance Corporation; Rural Utilities Service; Rural Business-Cooperative Service; and, Rural Housing Service. The second category of funding sources is grants and includes sources such as: Rural Business-Cooperative Service; Rural Utilities Service; Appalachian Regional Commission; and, Economic Development Administration. In addition to loans and grants, sources for technical assistance are discussed, and information for measuring low income and financial health is provided in order to qualify for funding. A listing of funding organizations and their websites is provided.
