This study illustrates the methods used to investigate pitting and pinhole leaks in acommunity distribution system. Specifically, this study focused on the copper plumbing of sevenhomes in an Ohio water distribution system. Solids collected from sampled pipes were analyzedusing a variety of techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and theta-theta diffractometer.
