This powerpoint presentation outlines an effort by the Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) to design and construct an ultraviolet (UV) disinfectionfacility thatprotects the public health of the customers, is easy to operate and maintain, contributes to the industry knowledge base, and provides the highest value for the investment. The presentation outlines GCWW's UV Implementation Programfor Richard Miller Treatment Plant (RMTP), in particular the Phase 3 Process Engineering Task that willevaluate key process design issues and advance UV facility design. Phase 4 will evaluate UV/AOP processfeasibility at RMTP. Project challenges include: noisy post granular activated carbon (GAC) ultraviolet transmittance (UVT) dataimpacts selection of design flow and UVT; determining which reactor trainconfiguration is optimal; post GAC headloss constraints; determining what flow/UVT criteria andredundancy should be used for sizing; and, defining expandability forUV system alternatives.
