In 2005, Seacoast Utility Authority (SUA), located in Palm Beach County, Florida, evaluatedoptions for expanding their two existing water treatment plants to meet future demands, and forconverting their plants from lime softening facilities to membrane softening facilities. SUA commissioned apreliminary design evaluation to study various options for expanding their existing water treatment plants tomeet future demands and for converting the plants from lime softening facilities to membrane softeningfacilities. This report included a description of the process and components required for each optionevaluated, a proposed schedule to implement the improvements, design considerations for the improvements,as well as the estimated capital and operation and maintenance costs for each option. These options were based on existingfacilities, water demands and plant capacities, water quality, water treatment regulations, concentrate disposaloptions, and permitting requirements. Includes tables.
