Much of the world's population, particularly in arid regions, isexperiencing water shortages. This poster paper presents seawater desalination as one solution to this water problem, particularly for coastal communities. However, introducing desalinated seawater into an existing potablewater system creates finished water with unique qualities andadditional distribution system concerns. One particular area ofconcern is the corrosion behavior of the new supply. Pilot design, pilot set-up, and predicted and measured results are presented.
