This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting a brief overview of the fouling of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, and a fouling control process called Vibratory Shear Enhanced Filtration Process (VSEFP). The presentation poses the question,"Can vibration reduce fouling andincrease recovery during RO treatmentof brackish water and brines?" Statistics are presented on the VSEF process, and presentation conclusions indicate that: vibration reduces fouling and increasespractical recovery substantially;vibration improves salt rejection by ROmembranes over 95% for brackish waterand over 90% for brine solution; and, vibration changes scale morphology froma uniform layer of needle-like solids to amore hydraulically conductive layer. Includes tables, figures.
