This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Aurora (Colorado) Water's Prairie Waters Project. Source water quality and treatment goals are presented, along with ultraviolet(UV) advanced oxidation treatability testing andimplementation issues. Key findings and conclusions indicate that UV-AOP is a key component of AuroraWater's Multiple Barrier Approach:Nitrosamines -destruction is predictable and repeatable,NDMA is conservative indicator, both for presence andremoval;0.2 to >1 log destruction of other emergingcontaminants is also achieved;biological filters downstream of UV-AOP quenchperoxide residual; and, sustainable element of multi-barrier approachprovides destruction, not transfer or discharge. Includes tables, figures.
