This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) Risk Management Framework and the Sector Specific Plan (SSP). SSP goals are presented and include:sustain protection of public health and theenvironment;recognize and reduce risks in the watersector;maintain a resilient infrastructure; and,increase communication, outreach, andpublic confidence. Emerging issues/developments are presented, including the following:Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards- Interim Final Rule issued April 2, 2007- Water sector currently exempt- Chlorine gas use as part VBIED in Iraq has triggeredinterest/concern from DHS/EPA and Capital Hill; and,performance metrics based on SSP Goals- WSCC/GCC approved in February, 2008, WaterISACis testing now for a planned rollout later this year- all voluntary, but intent to assess basic level ofprogress towards greater security and preparednessunder the NIPP framework; the gaseous chlorine issue; and, the Pandemic Flu issue.
