This powerpoint presentation begins by providing the research objectives that include the following:determine the technical feasibility ofelectrodialysis for brackish and concentratedbrackish waters; and, determine the principal controllingparameters of electrodialysis operation(experimentally and theoretically). An introduction to electrodialysis is presented, followed by a presentation of the experimental equipment, experimental set-up and results for single-pass and batch-recycle, and the presentation concludes with theoretical developments. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: dilute concentration is the principalprocess controlling parameter;electrodialysis is technically feasible fordesalting brackish waters and brackishconcentrate wastes;next to MHRT, the boundary layer thicknessis the principal operational controllingparameter; and, turbulence, in combination with appropriatevoltage application, will significantly improve thepower efficiency of electrodialysis systems. Includes figures.
