Spurred by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Actof 2007 as well as regulatory mandates, the U.S. electric industry is beginning to deploySmart Metering and Smart Grid technologies that collect hourly frequent data fromcustomers' meters as well as continuously monitor and control the distribution system.
