This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the New York City water system. Study objectives included: develop a Stage 2 Disinfection Byproduct (DBP) compliancestrategy;control options includedinstall dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal, filtration, MIEX, etc.,chloramines, and optimization; alter chlorination scheme by reducing chlorine dose at Kensico;maintain lower residual in system; optimize distribution system operations; reduce travel time in distributionsystem; and, modify reservoir operations. DBP Precursor Analysis -Results from System Monitoring are presented, along with an evaluation of reservoir operations modifications. Study conclusions indicate that: the NYC reservoir system is designed with a high degree offlexibility; natural organic matter (NOM) and DBP levels can be lowered by managing source watersupplies; and, this approach to optimizing for NOM can be beneficial for watersupplies with multiple source waters. Includes tables, figures.
