This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the problem of "loading" the network with excessive pressureduring the hours that the water demand is low and energy iswasted, andwasted energy and loss of water result in great incomeloss. The solution includes: the best way to reduce the non revenuewater level in the system is to divide the system into districtmetering areas (DMA);each DMA receives supply from a single source (pipeline),a pressure management valve (PMV) is installed at theentrance of every DMA and allows real time monitoring andcontrol of pressure and flow;by using the PMV, it is possible to identify new leaks in thesystem and repair the leaks in the shortest time; and,the PMV manages the pressure in the DMA dynamically -for high demand the PMV supplies high pressure and for lowdemand supplies minimum pressure. The PMV reacts instantlyto fire protection flow requirement. Several examples are presented including: Inverness Bunker PRV's Pressure Optimization; the village of Azmon, Israel; and, economic example of Tarbert, Scotland. Includes tables, figures.
