This poster paper presents a long-term project by Michigan State University (MSU) and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality(MDEQ) to improve Michigan's ability to manage andprotect its groundwater resources. The joint effort capitalizes on Michigan's statewideintegration of geographic, hydrologic, and geologic data and MSU's methodological andtechnological innovations in groundwater modeling. This partnership has enabled real-timevisual analysis of Michigan's groundwater systems and drinking water aquifers virtuallyanywhere in the state. The project has significant potential for reducing the cost of conductinggroundwater management investigations and impacting program management practices on astatewide scale, especially with respect to source water protection.
