The City of San Diego, California has received Clean Water Grant funding to build and operate a 0.5 million gallon per day facility to demonstrate a wastewater treatment system, utilizing a unique combination of treatment methods, to treat wastewater to a quality which may be acceptable for human consumption. The demonstration of this water reclamation system includes a substantial research effort to estimate the risk associated with the treated water. The study will result in a comparison of risk relative to that associated with the City's present water supply.
