The objective of this research was to develop a user-friendly response chart approach for the prediction of the response of a GAC adsorber to a pulse loading of a single component at a constant concentration for a known duration. To further our understanding of GAC adsorber response behavior, a set of small column tests were to run to study the impact of: pulse duration, adsorber operation time prior to the spill, and adsorbability of the spill compound. Additionally, the measured results of a geosmin pulse from a field scale column study were compared to model predictions. Eight response charts are given.
