A vulnerability analysis can help water utilities prepare for emergencies. A vulnerability analysis identifies general and specific areas of the system, what can go wrong, what should be done when something goes wrong, and in what order things should be done (establishing priorities). By incorporating the vulnerability analysis into capital improvements plans, the utility may avoid major problems altogether. Routine notification of planned service interruptions makes notification during unplanned events more routine. Tables list support suppliers contact list, other departments or agencies to notify, and a priority service list, which indicates who should be contacted in case of three types of problems: quality, quantity, or a request to reduce use.
