Corrosion in a multi-metal distribution system is site specific. The three case histories presented in this discussion use different formulations of the AQUADENE product line. Based on the applied research presented, the author believes the use of a blended phosphate formulations can achieve the following benefits: 1) Inhibition of internal metallic corrosion in a multi-metal distribution system by adjusting the components of formulation used at each application. 2) Sequestration of metals, as well as corrosion inhibition can be achieved with use of a one product blended phosphate formulation. 3) Scale inhibition provided by the polyphosphate portion of the formula allows for a more tenacious film and passivation formation. 4) Lower levels of orthophosphate are required when using a blended formulation in limiting the potential for bacterial regrowth in the distribution system.
