Following an outbreak of giardiasis, the Village of 100 Mile House, British Columbia, decided to build a treatment plant. This paper reports on the processes followed to identify the most cost effective treatment cost train and summarize the capital and operation and maintenance costs of the subsequently constructed treatment plant. Each treatment train in the plant is briefly described, costs of construction and operation are summarized, maintenance procedures described, and financial impact on the utility, as well as utility revenue, are discussed. A number of tables give financial information related to the project, as well as water rates for various customers in the service area.
