The City of Tampa Water Department conducted a study of residential water use characteristics to evaluate the water savings potential of specific fixtures. An extensive water use monitoring network was installed in a selected sample of 25 homes in Tampa. Monitoring included total water use, exterior water use, hot water use, shower use, toilet flushing, static pressure, and drainline pressure. Major emphasis was on toilets and showers, because these fixtures were targeted for a residential retrofit program. Tables and figures back up the discussion of the study's results.
