The objectives of the study were to provide information on the removal of physical, chemical and biological constituents under conditions of continuous operation. Specific aims of the study were to assess the ability of microfiltration to remove turbidity, natural populations of total coliform, Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and Trihalomethane Formation Potential (THMFP). Additional separate studies were undertaken to determine the ability of the microfiltration system to remove particles, Giardia Muris cysts and trihalomethane precursors using coagulants.
