This article describes the efforts of a public utility to evaluate and reduce corrosion in a potable water system. Various methods of corrosion measurement from bench scale to full system scale are discussed. Effectiveness of several different methods of corrosion reduction including ortho/polyphosphate inhibitors is described. Results indicate that corrosion of copper and lead is reduced by the use of a blended orthopolyphosphate inhibitor in this potable water system.
