Ozone can have many benefits as an alternative oxidant or disinfectant, however, recent concerns about bromate, an inorganic ozonation byproduct, could have serious consequences in the application of ozone. This ongoing AWWARF funded study, of model/synthetic waters, is being conducted to determine the influence of specific water quality characteristics and treatment options on bromate and organo-bromide specie formation during ozonation.
