In addition to disinfection, ozone has proven its value in reducing color and odor-causing sulfide levels in many municipal water applications. This paper discusses the pilot testing for both applications at the Mesa Consolidated Water District and Vaughn Water Company. Oxidation potential for several reagents are listed (flourine, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, bromine, chlorite, iodine, etc.). Tests indicate that ozone oxidation is effective for color, taste, and odor reduction.
