The El Paso, Texas, water system is divided by a range of mountains that require numerous pump stations to distribute water throughout the system. To manage the system, the water board implemented an integrated database management system to perform network analysis and modeling. This paper describes how the database management system works in conjunction with a network analysis system, AutoCAD and contouring. Advantages of this approach are outlined. The prime advantage is that all systems data is stored in a central location. Once the information has been loaded into the database and checked for accuracy, various scenarios can be simulated without concern for the types of errors associated with manually creating input files.
