In 1988, separate studies were undertaken to determine the condition and capacity of both water and wastewater systems serving the City of New Bern. The results of these studies concluded that both systems were at or near capacity thus necessitating a need for increased capacities to meet both present and future requirements. As a result, designs were initiated for both expansion of the water and wastewater systems. There was to be included with each design a SCADA system to provide monitoring and control for each system. The wastewater SCADA system, SCADA system selection, and system operation are described.
