The Water & Sewage Operations Division has embarked on a systemwide monitoring and controls project called the Oakland County (Michigan) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition project. This project establishes the requirements, provides the design specifications, and supervises the installation of a microprocessor based, integrated SCADA system as a tool to assist in the operation, management, and maintenance of the Division's water and wastewater facilities. This paper briefly describes the water and wastewater system, the SCADA system design concepts, and highlights the multi-faceted communications network used to monitor and control the wide range of Oakland County facilities.
