The City of Bloomington, Minnesota, SCADA system with an 800 MHz trunk system as its communication media proved to be a challenging, yet successful endeavor. The ability to communicate to forty-three field sites in an established format without interrupting the rest of the city's communication operation proved to be a noteworthy accomplishment. The City of Bloomington, Minnesota, wanted an efficient SCADA system to communicate through a trunk system. To achieve this, many mutual decisions were required by the city, consulting engineer, Ericsson GE, and Autocon. In addition, a balance had to be established between frequency of reporting and ease of operation. To attain an integrated and coexisting system using different principles, shared protocols, traffic studies, ingenuity and cooperation were needed by all parties.
