The home of the Browns, Indians and Cavaliers is also home to one of the more complexcomputerized water distribution system hydraulic models. This model is integrated with ageographic information system (GIS) database of the Cleveland, Ohio Division ofWater's (CWD) installed distribution system assets. Using this integration, up-to-datehydraulic models are extracted from the GIS hydraulic data in a relatively short period oftime. Many of the unwritten operational rules for the system were incorporated into themodel in the process of completing and calibrating the model. In doing so, a number ofopportunities to make these operations more efficient were identified. The model alsoincorporates water quality analysis and has led to a greater understanding of howdisinfectant residuals are affected by CWD's operational strategies. Includes 2 references, figures.
