The overview of Phase 1 includes: recycled water plant near the South PlatteRiver on the north edge of Denver;distribution piping will bring water souththrough central Denver;62,000 feet of pipe (11.7 miles);10 tunnels;approximately 6,000 feet of gas main relocation;1500 feet of 42" storm sewer relocated; 8 bid packages -$13 million;feed parks and golf courses along the way;complete and ready for operation on April 1, 2004; and, Phase 1 map. Features special to the non-potable water system:purple exterior;purple manhole lids and valve boxes;valves operate in reverse direction;purple pentagon nut on valves;no cement mortar lining;warning tape;fiberoptic conduits;tracer wire;spacing of the in-line valves; and,horizontal and vertical separation.
