This powerpoint presentation presents the use of SSS Modeling to meet the requirements of the Stage 2 Disinfection Byproduct Rule (DBPR), including theInitial Distribution System Evaluation (IDSE). The SSS Modeling uses water age as a surrogate for DPB concentration. A tracer study used to help calibratemodel and fine tune operations in Charleston, South Carolina, is presented, along with a fluoride tracer study by the town of Cary, North Carolina. A summary of water quality problemsassociated with water age is provided, along with other potential model uses, water quality in storage tanks, and the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for more advanced evaluation ofstorage tanks. Includes tables, figures.
