This powerpoint presentation begins by providing an overview of water quality (WQ) problems, including: loss of disinfection residual;high disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation; Taste and Odor; and,Colored and Turbid Water. WQ Monitoring Needs are presented and include: Maintain Integrity of Drinking Water;Regulatory Compliance;Operational Process Control; and,Consumer Satisfaction. Typical WQ related questions are presented, along withWQ models and requirements, andWQ modeling examples of small and large utilities. Small utility conclusions were that:high chlorine decay rate in surface water, worth investing treatment improvements to maintainresidual; increased chlorine concentrations at the wells will help tomaintain system-wide chlorine levels;slightly higher chlorine levels were predicted in the blendedzones;should not have an adverse impact on DBP levels; and, increased chlorine dosing at surface water treatment plantcould increase DBPs. Includes figures.
