This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of geographic information systems (GIS) and model integration. The goal of this presentation was toidentify the hurdles which include the following: identify key stakeholders and decision makers; identify key goals and purposes; key ID requirements; identifying GIS elements to be included in the model; make all feature class subtypes translate to a singlemodel element type; connecting model elements together; model facilities require special considerations; track certain key model data in GIS; tracking deletions and changes in the GIS; and, flowchart of the model update process. GIS-To-Model update steps summary: save an archive copy of latest model;export GIS data to be modeled;translate GIS to model elements;remove deleted elements from model; import new GIS data to model;perform QA and topology checks;update key missing data for new or changed elements;reassign model demands;update scenario specific data;validate model performance; and, export model specific data back to the GIS. Includes figures.
