This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the MCWA system. The disinfection byproduct (DBP) reduction program is presented, including minimizing DBP formation by:optimizing hypochlorite (chlorine) use; usingchlorine residual monitors leaving BPSand tanks; and, controlingtank operation/water age. A 2007 research program used granular activated carbon (GAC) test columns and aeration. A cost comparison is presented of GAC vs. aeration, along with a 2009 research program at Mumford tank that included a comparison of different technologies andconsecutive trials to tie DBP removal topower consumption. Includes figures.
