More than ever before, Information Technology (IT) departments are under increasing pressure to provide more value to their organizations within a shorter timeline and often at a lower cost. There is also increasing recognition within the utility industry that IT can play a crucial role in core business functions. An excellent example of how an IT organization is changing and progressing to become a valuable business service is provided by the Colorado Springs Utilities Water Resources Department Information Technology Services (ITS) Division of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
