This slide presentation outlines a case study of integrating geographic information systems (GIS) and CMMS at the Trinity River Authority of Texas. Project objective was to integrate GIS and CMMS to:reduce data duplication by various departments;increase data accuracy;reduce costs;increase access to asset information;increase asset utilization;improve productivity; develop efficient data summaries and analyses; and, improve reliability / customer satisfaction. The Project Plan included:Needs Assessment;Review Existing Systems; Select Integrated Solution;GIS Design; and,Implementation. Conclusions were:GIS, hydraulic model packages and CMMS are each designed tofulfill purposes and functions that may overlap but are notidentical;successful integration of GIS/Hydraulic Modeling/CMMS requirescareful planning following an organized process.Trinity River Authority CRWS now has:integrated inventory, inspection, work order data, and GISautomated mapping;integrated inventory data and hydraulic model;standardized enterprise-wide information and managementtools; and, improved planning and problem solving.
