The city of Chandler, Arizona, has implemented a program for total reuse of its municipal wastewater effluent. A new reclamation facility will serve as the cornerstone of the city's program. Planning for the new facility included identification of potential uses for the reclaimed water and determination of the required treatment levels for the various reuse options. The resulting effluent reuse plan emphasizes landscape irrigation and recreational lakes along with agricultural irrigation. Privatization of the reclamation facility provides a significant financial advantage for the city. The reuse system has been developed through a public-private partnership between the city and landowners whose property borders the facility. Includes tables, figure.
