Computer control of the Hardhof groundwater plant is necessary to adhere to operational criteria stipulated by the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. The computer installation at Hardhof also assists with managing energy costs for the city's water supply and security systems for the physical plants. This article discusses Zurich's successful experience with groundwater management by means of process computers. Includes reference, figures.
