The technique for determining design parameters for activated carbon columns described here can be used for pilot scale to full scale. The equation for the logistic curve provides a means of linearizing the breakthrough curves for carbon adsorption columns. Either the BDST (bed depth service time) method or the logit method can be used in evaluating pilot plant results to determine the adsorption rate coefficient and the adsorption capacity coefficient. Includes 5 references, figures.
