Water agencies across North America are discovering with increasing frequency that the old approaches to resource planning are no longer effective. In large part, the old approaches are failing because the context within which suppliers must attempt to meet demand has changed. A detailed water integrated resource planning framework is described that has been adapted and applied to several water purveyors, including the Southern Nevada Water Authority. The application in Southern Nevada is used to illustrate major components of the approach. Includes 14 references, tables, figures.
