Testing conducted at water utilities in California in the late 1990s concludedthat the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) may have incorrectly identified the mainsources of lead and copper in tap water as well as which sources are "high risk".According to the findings of this study, brass corrosion appears to be the mainsource of both lead and copper in current monitoring samples. This paper providesone method for identifying the source of corrosion byproducts in consumers' tapwater. Includes 21 references, tables, figures.
