Regulations such as the Safe Drinking Water Act, theClean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act posesignificant challenges for water utilities. Protecting thepublic health and environment means adjusting practicesto limit contaminants, often detectable at levelsbeyond our understanding of environmental risk. Thisprocess can be costly and complex.
