The approach incorporatesdata from a number of sources and augmentsthe amount of data available while maintaining existingdata warehousing practices. Although it requireseffort and collaboration among a utility's informationtechnology and engineering staff, the approach isflexible; uses commonly available software tools;anticipates the evolution of data collection, verification, and storage capabilities within the utility; and,can be applied to other infrastructure assets. With theresults, utility managers can gain insight into currentand future performance of their distribution networksand develop future asset management strategies.
